This paper meticulously examines the application errors of the word ‘hao(好)’ by foreign students in their Chinese language learning process, aiming to reveal the diverse mistakes made in its actual use. The word ‘hao(好)’ has always been known to learners for its rich semantics and variable usage, and it holds a particularly prominent place in modern Chinese, serving as an adjective, adverb, and verb, covering multiple semantic layers including evaluation and modality. However, due to its complex meanings and uses, foreign students often struggle to grasp it accurately, leading to various mistakes. Through an in-depth analysis of the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus, this paper not only systematically summarizes the typical error types made by foreign students in using ‘hao(好)’ but also explores the causes of these errors, revealing the main difficulties students face in understanding and applying the semantics and grammar of ‘hao(好)’. By analyzing these mistakes, the paper provides references for Chinese language teaching, helping foreign students to better master and use this common word, thereby improving their overall Chinese language proficiency.
