The goal of this research is to explore the relationship between International Awareness(international relations awareness, international opening awareness) and University Adjustment(personal-emotional, academic, institutional, social) of Chinese students in Korea. For this purpose, a survey questionnaire was given to 443 students depending on four types(integration, assimilation, separation, marginalization) of acculturation from six universities located in Gyeongbuk Province and Daegu. The collected data was analyzed through SPSS 22.0 which applied Reliability Analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Frequency Analysis, Descriptive Analysis, Correlation Analysis, t-test, MANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis.
The results indicate the following findings. First, the Korean language ability, residential types, counseling service and acculturation types had a Significant influence on all types of University Adjustment. Secondly, all types of students’ international relations awareness was positive correlated with personal-emotional adjustment. Thirdly, the separation type and the marginalization of students’ international relations awareness was positive correlated with academic adjustment. And the marginalization type of students’ international opening awareness also had a positive influence on academic adjustment. Fourthly, all types of students’ international relations awareness was positive correlated with institutional adjustment. In addition, the integration type, the assimilation type and the separation type of students’ international opening awareness also had a positive influence on institutional adjustment. Lastly, all types of students’ international opening awareness had a positive influence on social adjustment. But only the assimilation type of students’ international relations awareness was positive correlated with social adjustment. The findings of the study suggest many prospective research topics to be investigated in the future.
