This study aimed to examine the current operation state of curriculum of lifelong education centers for people with developmental disabilities in Seoul, and also to understand the workers’ perception of curriculum. For this, this study used the mixed methods research of survey and focus group interview. We conducted a survey of 181 workers working at the lifelong education centers for people with developmental disabilities in Seoul, and also conducted a focus group interview with 4 directors. The main results of this study are as follows. First, in the results of examining the educational operation of lifelong education centers for people with developmental disabilities, a lot of the users were male, intellectual disabilities, and in their 20s. There were many cases of operating classes for 45 minutes and not providing classes of each subject. The educational support for each individual was partially performed by most of the centers. Second, in the results of examining the workers’ perception of curriculum of lifelong education centers for people with developmental disabilities, the reinforcement of daily life competencies and participation in community were importantly perceived as the goal of education. In the contents of curriculum, 4 areas out of 6 areas in lifelong education, and all the 8 areas of daily life and future preparation-related curriculum, necessity was high. In the improvement measures for curriculum, the development of manuals for the individualized educational support was the most necessary, on top of emphasizing the curriculum suitable for the characteristics and needs of users. Based on such results of this study, this study suggested the development measures for curriculum of lifelong education centers for people with developmental disabilities.
