This paper argues DP-internal information structure based on the fact that word order alternations of lexical items within the nominal phrase can have discourse-related properties(i.e., topic, focus, emphasis, etc.). Especially, I focus on Spanish postnominal demonstratives considered as a marked order. In postnominal position, the demonstrative is focused or emphasized encoding the speaker``s attitude in the discourse. I propose that information structure is also attested in nominal phrases adopting split DP hypothesis. I claim that Spanish postnominal demonstrative construction involves movements of demonstrative and NP to Foc-head and Spec-Top position respectively. The proposed approach is supported by syntactic phenomena such as complementary distribution of determiner and demonstrative, word order relation between adjective and demonstrative.
