In this study, the general perspectives of the Gwangju Uprising summarized based on the changes in characteristics and the subjectivity components of the Gwangju Uprising within last 25 years. By considering the massive amount of previous researches and their multifarious contents, the studies relative to these facts were generally taken into the research direction and the possible alternatives and innovative developments in this type research were suggested simultaneously.
Firstly, even though the Gwangju Uprising was historically rehabilitated and designated as the national remembrance day, its background and the causes still remained unseen and structurally unclear thus it could be regarded as the contemporary history but at the same time, it is the current issue which still needs to be resolved. The studies concerning the actual states of matter in the Gwangju Uprising should be studied more in-depth along with the currently debated issues such as various characteristics of the Uprising process and the related provision.
Secondly, by consideration the fact that the democratic movements had played the most persuasive and critical role of the Gwangju Uprising, the studies should be conducted to discuss what caused such a paradoxical result which was a hypocrisy against the democratic establishment of this country. More specifically, there should be analytical examinations concerning the lifestyles of people who were directly touched by the devastated outcome of Uprising in terms of the living proof.
By considering the fact that the critical and legitimate oppositions towards existing researches have built a valuable foundation for the posterior studies, thus there should be variety of issues and critical oppositions against this research topic, the characteristics and the subjectivity of the Uprising in order for this research to improve in terms of its qualities from the criticism. However, there should new conventional research areas to attempt to study the Uprising in different angles.
